CIDRZ is inviting applications from qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Laboratory Technologist under the RotaOmics Project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge biomedical research while supporting laboratory operations and clinical research activities in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Receive, process, label, store, and manage biological specimens in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

✅ Perform laboratory procedures including PBMC isolation, cryopreservation, ELISA, ELISpot, and sample preparation for flow cytometry and molecular analyses.

✅ Maintain the project biobank and monitor specimen storage conditions.

✅ Prepare and package biological specimens for shipment in compliance with IATA regulations.

✅ Maintain accurate laboratory records and research databases while ensuring confidentiality.

✅ Ensure compliance with GCLP, GCP, biosafety, biosecurity, and laboratory quality standards.

✅ Monitor laboratory supplies, equipment, and quality control processes.

✅ Support study monitoring visits, audits, regulatory inspections, and laboratory reporting.

✅ Contribute to SOP development, laboratory training, and scientific research activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

✅ Diploma in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Laboratory Medicine, or a related field.

✅ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a biomedical or clinical research laboratory.

✅ Experience processing human biological specimens, including blood, stool, and tissue samples.

✅ Practical experience performing ELISA and ELISpot assays.

✅ Experience in PBMC isolation, cryopreservation, biobanking, and laboratory quality systems.

✅ Experience with flow cytometry, vaccine research, or infectious disease research is an added advantage.

✅ Current GCP, GCLP, and Biosafety certification is desirable.
