Maamba Energy Limited (MEL) is jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH plc. The Company owns and operates a large-scale coal mine and a 300 Megawatt coal-fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.

Maamba Energy Limited is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic professional to build a career under the Civil Engineering Section / Mining Department in Maamba, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Civil Engineer provides technical engineering expertise, field supervision, and logistics management for civil construction and maintenance works, supporting the Senior Civil Engineer in delivering MEL's civil works programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Civil Works Planning & Logistics

- Prepare budgetary proposals, quantity estimates, and cost plans.

- Prepare purchase requisitions for materials, equipment, and services.

- Schedule material and equipment deliveries.

- Assist in preparing risk assessments.

- Maintain inventory of fixtures, fittings, and civil materials.

Civil Works Execution & Supervision

- Supervise execution of civil works.

- Ensure compliance with legal, health, safety, and environmental requirements.

- Inspect project sites and monitor progress.

- Provide technical solutions to construction challenges.

Team Supervision & Development

- Monitor manpower deployment and attendance.

- Support staff performance appraisals and development plans.

- Mentor Civil Supervisors and junior staff.

Health, Safety & Environment

- Adhere to workplace safety policies and regulations.

- Promote safe working practices.

- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries promptly.

Reporting

- Prepare weekly progress reports.

- Maintain photographic and written records of construction milestones.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Grade 12 School Certificate.

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.

- Paid-up member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering and Construction.

- At least 2 years in a supervisory role.

- Experience in construction supervision, quality assurance, and safety compliance.

- Mining site civil works experience.

- AutoCAD design experience.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

- Civil works execution, construction supervision, and quality control.

- Budget preparation, quantity estimation, and purchase requisition management.

- Construction risk assessment and health & safety compliance.

- Progress reporting and photographic documentation.

- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- SAP ERP – Plant Maintenance and Civil Works modules.

- SAP Procurement Module is an added advantage.

- Knowledge of engineering design codes and standards.
