Purpose of the role: To rebuild/remanufacture components such as final drives, travel devices, swing transmission etc. according to Hitachi standards.


Reports to: Senior Mechanical Supervisor


Branch: Lusaka


Contract Duration: Two (2) Years


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


The Mechanical artisan will be required to perform the following tasks: 


 Conduct Workshop maintenance daily (preventive & corrective actions).

Must be able to conduct toolbox talk/morning safety meeting with easy.

Identify components by name and machine model.

Must be able to disassemble, clean and assess the parts for reusability.

Ensure daily assessments are performed to ensure good housekeeping.

Must be competent in using measuring tools.

Remanufacture/repair components to Hitachi standards.

Test components after rebuilding and report results to the supervisor.

Carry out a job safety analysis (JSA) before work starts.

Maintain a safe working environment and follow safety regulations.

Must be able to analyze cause of failure (failure analysis).

Ensure daily reports are completed and submitted to the supervisor.

Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience


 Must have a full Grade 12 Certificate.

Minimum of a certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair or better

Must have 2-3 years’ experience in a Workshop environment

Must be a Member of the Engineering institution of Zambia (EIZ)

All qualifications must be validated by the Zambia qualifications Authority (ZAQA)

Job-Specific Competencies


Excellent communication skills (oral & written)

Knowledge of Safety Standards

Problem solving and analytical skills

 Knowledge of the use of parts and service manuals

 Understanding operations of reman factory will be an added advantage

 Knowledge of Hitachi equipment will be an added advantage
