Job Purpose
The Driver will be responsible for all transport-related duties including fleet and journey management. The position holder shall be responsible for ensuring that all journeys are properly and timely executed in line with organizational policies. Ensure the vehicle is cleaned and kept tidy all the time. Ensure vehicle is roadworthy before it is used for program activities. Complete job card for vehicle service or repairs before it is booked into the workshop. Generally, manage the day-to-day logistic requirements of the organization in line with policy.Job fairs and events
Key Responsibilities:
Safely transporting staff as well as various products and materials to and from specific locations in a timely manner.
Ensure that all journeys are properly managed and provide and maintain accurate time records of the vehicle’s trips.
Time conscious, reliable and very punctual
Ensure that vehicle is tidy, properly maintained and in good conditions at all times
Initiate and facilitate the process of vehicle routine service and repairs
Ensure the vehicle is cleaned and kept tidy all the time
Ensure vehicle is roadworthy before it is used for program activities.
Complete job card for vehicle service or repairs before it is booked into the service centre or workshop
Ensure that vehicle insurance and road worthy is always up to date and notify management before renewal is due
Ensure that vehicle consumables such as engine oil, water and others are frequently checked and changed when due (routine maintenance check should be timely)
Ensure that the vehicle is always trek-ready and drive vehicle in accordance with the road safety and national regulation standards.
Adhere to the organizations vehicle use and travel policy uniformly
Keep an updated inventory list of equipment such as first aid kit, tool kit, spare wheel, jack, wheel spanner e.t.c
Ensure to update accurately the vehicle logbook to enhance accountability of journeys undertaken
Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
Full Grade 12 School Certificate
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of driving manual transmission vehicles, USAID or similar projects experience
Must have thorough knowledge of the Road Safety rules and regulations.
Good knowledge of car mechanics, a certificate in car maintenance is an added advantage.
Defensive driving training will be a plus
Must be honest, mature and sober character
Fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Working knowledge of Computers: Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of USAID Rules and Regulations would be an advantage.
Willing to travel to projects sites regularly.
Must have a valid Zambian driving License with a minimum of Class C.
School supplies
PREFERABLY MUST BE BASED IN EITHER NORTHERN OR LUAPULA PROVINCE
NOTE THAT THIS A RELIEF/TEMPORAL POSITION FOR A PERIOD OF 3 MONTHS
