Lukanga Water Supply & Sanitation Company Limited (LgWSC) is a private Company established under the Companies’ Act No 10 of 2017. It was incorporated on 21st March 2006 as a Commercial Water Utility (CU) Limited by shares wholly owned by the Local Authorities in Central Province. The CU was established as part of the GRZ water sub-sector reforms to improve delivery of water supply, sewerage and sanitation services to the urban and peri-urban population in the Province. In order to fulfill this mandate, the Company has placed emphasis on delivering an excellent service to both its external and internal customers. The Company seeks individuals who are ready to join the crusade towards effective and efficient delivery of services to our esteemed customers in the most professional way. Applications are therefore, invited from suitably qualified persons with performance based backgrounds and preferably resident in Central Province to staff the following vacancies:-
1. INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGER (Grade L3; Required No: 1)
A high calibre ICT professional with management experience from a performance based envionment on a fixed term contract to fill the referred position. The job holder will plan, manage and provide quality, reliable ICT services that support the operations of the business and contribute to overall efficiency, productivity and attainment of corporate strategic objectives.
Requirements
• Full School Certificate with at least a credit in English and Mathematics.
• Minimum professional qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related qualification.
• Must have proven high level of drive and be able to coach and motivate a team
• Relevant work experience: 5 years
• Membership to ICTAZ
• Driving license is an added advantage
• Required competencies and personal attributes: Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
2. HEAD HUMAN RESOURCE & ADMINISTRATION (Grade L3; Required No: 1)
To develop, advise on and implement policies relating to the effective management of personnel within an organisation through a dynamic and robust Performance Management System (PMS). To ensure safety to personnel and general working environment in addition to having all infrastructures, properties and equipment across the Company insured.
Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration or any related field
• Three years at a senior level Relevant work experience.
• Must be a Full member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management
• Must be of pleasant personality and proactive in order to ensure employee satisfaction
3. MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (Grade L4; Required No: 1)
To plan organize, implement and direct the main tenance of water and sanitation plants and infrastructure through supervision of preventive and predictive maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery and distribution network and related facilities in the Company to ensure quality water and sanitation service delivery.
Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Degree in Electrical , Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a reputable institution.
• At least 3 years in a related position in a reputable company.
• Fresh graduates may also be considered as Management Trainees
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Computer literate with wide knowledge of Engineering packages like AutoCAD, GIS & Maintenance Management.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Must have a valid driver’s licence.
4. PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (Grade L4; Required No: 1)
In collaboration with the Public Relations Manager/other, to ensure that there is a mutually beneficial relationship between LgWSC and its customers through cultivation of positive relationships,
develops and executes strategies to manage and enhance the organization's public image and reputation.
Requirements:
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Minimum professional qualification; Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relation or equivalent
• At least 3 years work experience in a similar role.
• Must be of pleasant personality and proactive in order to anticipate customer reactions
• Must be a member of ZIPRC
5. OFFICE MANAGER (Grade L5; Required No: 1)
To provide secretarial and office support services to the Company through the Managing Director’s office.
Requirements
• Secondary education: Grade 12 Certificate
• Minimum professional qualifications: Diploma in Secretarial and Office Management or equivalent
• Relevant work experience: 2 years
• Computer literate
• Required competencies and personal attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to multitask, good organisation, friendly and empathetic.
6. RECEPTIONIST (Grade L7; Required No:1)
The Receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors, clients, and employees. This role involves managing the front desk, handling phone calls, emails, and messages, and providing administrative support to ensure a welcoming and efficient experience for all.
Requirements
• Secondary education: Grade 12 Certificate
• Certificate or diploma in Business administration, Secretarial studies, or a related field
• Relevant work experience: one year
• Required competencies and personal attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to multitask, good organisation, friendly and empathetic.
7. ASSISTANT STORES OFFICER (Grade L5; Required No: 1)
To assist in the Stores Officers in the management of the stores .timely stock replenishment, issuing of stock to user departments, receiving of goods and services from suppliers, raising of goods received notes and posting of invoices and stores issues in pastel and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
• Grade 12 Full School Certificate.
• Diploma in Purchasing & Stores, CIPS or equivalent .
• 2 years work experience in a similar position in a reputable organization.
• Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
8. SAFETY HEALTH ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY OFFICER (Grade L5; Required No:1)
The Safety, Health, and Environment Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, promoting environmental sustainability, and complying with relevant laws and regulations. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs to minimize risks and prevent injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents.
Requirements
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• A diploma or better in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
• Membership with the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA) will be added advantage
• At least 2 years experience in a similar position.
• Must be computer literate.
9. COMMUNITY RELATIONS ASSISTANT (CRA) FSM/OSS (Grade L7; Required No: 1)
The CRA will be reporting to the Community Relations Officer and shall be responsible for the day to day scheduled emptying program. Further, the CRA will be charged with the responsibility of community liaison and mobilization in the project areas.
Requirements
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• A diploma or better in Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Must be computer literate
10. ARTISAN ELECTRICIAN (Grade L7; Required No: 1)
The Artisan Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
Requirements
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in power electrical or equivalent from a reputable Institution.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
• A valid driver’s license is a must.
11. ARTISAN FITTER (Grade L7; Required No: 2)
The Artisan Fitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and other mechanical systems.
Requirements
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in mechanical fitting or equivalent from a reputable Institution.
• At least 2 years’ experience in plant maintenance will be an added advantage.
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
• A valid driver’s license is a must.
12. ARTISAN PLUMBERS (Grade L7; Required No: 10)
The Artisan Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing water distribution systems, plumbing fixtures, and equipment.
Requirements
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in Plumbing and Sheet Metal from a reputable Institution.
• At least 2 years experience in similar position.
• Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
13. PLANT OPERATORS (Grade L7; Required No: 3)
The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of water or wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high-quality water or wastewater treatment. This role involves monitoring and controlling plant operations, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting issues.
Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in Water and Sewerage Operations, Electrical or Mechanical from a reputable institution.
• Fresh graduates may also be considered as Management Trainees.
• Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• 2 years work experience.
• In depth practical knowledge of Water and Sewerage plant operations.
14. PLANT ATTENDANTS (Grade L8; Required No: 7)
Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Trade Test in plumbing, fitting, water operations or equivalent.
• 1 year work experience.
• Freshly tested graduates will also be considered.
• Traceable experience in the water sector will be an added advantage.
15. SANITARY ATTENDANTS (Grade L8; Required No: 4)
Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Trade Test in plumbing, fitting, water operations or equivalent.
• 1 year work experience.
• Freshly tested graduates will also be considered.
• Traceable experience in the water sector will be an added advantage.
16. ASSISTANT SANITARY ATTENDANTS (Grade L9; Required No: 3)
Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• 1 year work experience.
• Preferable resident in Kabwe
• Traceable experience in the water sector will be an added advantage.
